Establishing Foundations in Printing
I moved to the Central Coast to attend Cal Poly, one of the top colleges in the nation for printing and graphic communications. My love of printing started with a mentor teacher in high school who recognized my aptitude for hands-on learning. He gave me a career path to follow which lead me to Compton Junior College where I continued honing my craft.
Our Journey
After graduating from Cal Poly in 1975, I worked for a local printer as a pressman and later as the shop’s manager. In those 5 years, I learned much about printing for the real world. When the shop was sold, I took the opportunity to start my own business, first with no equipment as a printing broker. In my years at Cal Poly, I made contacts with fellow students who chose to move to the big cities to continue their careers in printed. Those connections, along with support from Wayne and Pauline from Nix Printing, Santa Maria, CA allowed me to satisfy my clients printing needs with top-notch, affordable printing services. While brokering, I saved money for my first press which led me to opening Hay Printing in 1980. Along with my partner Mary who was the graphic designer and bookkeeper, we became the full-fledged print shop that we are today.

We offer a new Color Copy and Black & White Service, using our high-quality color copier to provide competitive pricing to our local market.
